Lewis Peake has over twenty years of experience working across film and television art departments. His career spans television drama, feature films, animation, commercials, music videos and contemporary art exhibitions. Lewis’ most recent work has been for networks and streaming platforms including HBO, Disney and Netflix.
Credits include Marvel’s Vision Quest, House of the Dragon, and Black Mirror.
Lewis’ artistic practice is rooted in fine art and illustration, with a strong foundation in traditional media. He studied set design at Arts University Bournemouth before training at FDI Pinewood Studios and on the BBC Vision Scheme. Building and acquiring a thorough understanding of art department roles by working within construction, scenic painting, standby, props, graphics and set decoration, he eventually returned to his drawing background to specialise in concept art. Today, his workflow combines traditional draftsmanship with 3D software and Photoshop, exploiting the many digital tools to develop concepts efficiently with striking results. His aim, first and foremost, is to convey the essential design and atmosphere that tells the story and deliver images and assets that inspire and unite the art department with the entire production.
Between industry projects, Lewis runs a visual arts programme at his local arts center, he makes drawings, paintings, digital imagery, and video art inspired by his natural surroundings. The textures, forms, and unpredictability of local geology and wildlife continue to inform his personal work. There will always be a solid relationship between the industry work and his personal artistic explorations, how they contrast but also influence each other.
