Here you will be guided through the process of turning visions into reality and breathing life into your ideas. With over 20 years of experience in film and television, I offer deep insight into the artistic and professional workflows behind designing environments, props, vehicles, and creatures. THE SESSION
You are welcome to bring in your latest project so we can integrate new techniques to refine the work and make it an exceptional portfolio piece. I will take you through the process of using Blender and Photoshop to add finishing touches and ways to display the work on the page.
Alternatively, we can start from the ground up and work through the steps as with a professional assignment.
OVERVIEW
Reference — The essential first step! Gathering material to guide and inform the design.
Drawing & Sketching — Establishing interesting forms, build strong fundamentals with expressive and confident linework.
3D Modelling — Shape compelling forms using industry‑standard tools.
Rendering — Bring your models to life with lighting, materials and atmosphere.
Digital Painting — Intergrate 2D tools for polished or painterly production‑ready artwork.
REQUIREMENTS
Preferably bring a computer with Blender and Photoshop installed. There are free alternatives to Photoshop such as Krita, Clip Studio and Affinity.
Blender is also free to download here www.blender.orgA drawing tablet such as a Wacom or equivalent. An ipad or smart tablet and stylus will also work for digital painting. Have painting apps installed eg. https://procreate.com/.
If you don’t have any of the kit, no problem! I have two PCs with all accessories for the class )Please bare this in mind if group booking). For this, you must bring your own USB sticks to take home your work.
TERMS
The 1 hour class is an overview that introduces students to the techniques listed above and allows a limited time to practice them one-to-one, to then develop on their own.
For more in-depth tuition I recommend booking a 2-3 hour class or the Full Day class.
As a freelancer my work and schedule is erratic and commitments come up at very short notice.
On occassions classes may have to be postponed or cancelled, in which case any payments will be refunded.
A discretionary discount for those on lower incomes is available. Please get in touch to discuss this option.
